As I am interested in the crofters period of those times gone by in the early 19th century, especially the abandoned villages of Suisnish and Bornish, I wondered what those books were you read that speak of the dampness and the sense of community. Is it possible to post some ‘further reading’ tips?

Try reading “I Remember” Memories of Raasay by John Macinnes, “Discovering Skye” by Jonathan MacDonald, “History of Skye” Edited by Cailean MacLean or better still come to Skye and visit the Skye Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir in the north of Skye or the Colbost Folk Museum at Colbost, Nr Duvegan, Isle of Skye where you will find detailed information about the way that crofters lived at that time. Hope this helps. Tania
